WELCOME! If you have stumbled onto this blog, let me take a minute to introduce myself. My name is Alicia, and I am a mother of two, high school special education teacher, and an online health and fitness coach.
Almost four years ago, I welcomed my second child into the world. With that came a lot of wonderful things, but I also found myself almost forty pounds overweight, tired, uncomfortable, and searching to find that balance between who I was as a mother, and who I was as an individual. I was also back to my full-time teaching position after maternity leave, and I was STRUGGLING. I felt stretched way too thin- lacking the energy I needed to be a good teacher and still be able to show up for my kids after school.
I decided it was time to take back some control. I stumbled upon a friend posting on Facebook about beginning a weight-loss journey with a new at-home nutrition and fitness program. I have been a chronic dieter and on-and-off gym-goer my entire life, so I have tried most of the fads that are out there to lose some quick pounds. I decided this was worth a shot, so I jumped on the website and ordered the program. I was intrigued by the simple nutrition plan, and thought I could handle 30 minutes of at-home exercise a day.
It wasn’t easy at first. I snuck the workouts in in the evening when my husband got home from work, and it kicked my booty, to say the least. I remember holding onto the railing with both hands at school just to get down the stairs- I was S-O-R-E! But I kept going.
Fast-forward to the end of my first 21 day round, and I was down ten pounds. My clothes felt better, I was more energized (as much as one can be with an infant that didn’t sleep well), and I started to realize that this goal of being a mom, a teacher, AND taking care of myself was most-definitely attainable. I continued with the program for a few months, and continued to see the scale drop and my body change. Others began to notice my transformation, and I found myself talking more and more about what I was doing. It then occurred to me that I could potentially help other mothers and teachers regain control of their lives by expanding my casual conversations into a business. After much back and forth, I jumped in head first with a business kit and a fresh supply of Shakeology, and I haven’t looked back since!
Since October 2014, I have lost (and kept off!) almost forty pounds, and have helped over 100 women begin their journeys towards a healthier lifestyle. I LOVE what I do. Living a healthy, fit life as a mother and dedicated teacher, and helping other teacher moms do the same is my PASSION, and I am here to support YOU as well!
